O, yes he did. It was tough, he did took a stab, but i wouldn’t really call it insults. I would rather say it’s the people he made fun of. No one expects you’ll take a dig at one of the most popular, famous, loved individuals walking the earth at the moment. It’s the names what makes it so grandiose. Because no one would dare. People talk about them, they gossip about Tom and John and Angelina, but no one does it in front of the whole planet.

But see, it’s also a British kind of humor that most Americans do not agree upon, or i’d dare say – understand very much. Most of us Europeans are dry, direct. But Brits and their humor is just disarming. Raw, direct, almost infantile but wrapped up in superiorly intelligent sarcasm, there’s nothing you can do about it. Hating Ricky for this and call him evil, it’s missing the point.

It’s the same thing with Russell Brand when he hosted MTV Movie Awards in US. He had brilliant jokes, but people were just stunned. It was, as i remember, even worse then this, but it created maybe less of an angry buzz because Russell was “insulting” Jonas Brothers, and you’ll agree insulting a Jonas over Tom Cruise, it’s a dash different. For example, people were tripping over this specific one, curtesy of Russell:

As a representative of the global community, a visitor from abroad, could I ask of you, people of America, to please elect Barack Obama, on behalf of the world. Some people, I think they’re called racists, say America is not ready for a black president. But I know America to be a forward thinking country because otherwise why would you have let that retarded cowboy fella be president for eight years. We were very impressed in England. We thought it was nice of you to let him have a go, because, in England, he wouldn’t be trusted with a pair of scissors.

People were furious, well, Republicans mostly. But you have to admit, it’s brilliantly funny, and on point. As for Ricky –

In words of MICHAEL K from DLISTED:

Ricky, if you make it out of Hollywood alive, please host EVERYTHING.
